Ultrasound guidance improves the reliability and accuracy of injections while reducing patient discomfort. Dr Hobeychi, podiatrist, notably performs this type of injection to treat plantar fasciitis, bursitis, tenosynovitis, neuromas, as well as for cyst aspirations.

Doctor injecting into a foot

Viscosupplementation

Viscosupplementation is a procedure where a hyaluronic acid solution is injected into an arthritic joint. When the synovial fluid that naturally surrounds the joint isn’t doing its job, this solution provides cushioning and mimics the fluid’s lubricating action. This kind of treatment quickly relieves pain (often within a week) and significantly improves mobility, with results generally lasting for several months. Dr. Hobeychi, podiatrist, uses ultrasound to guide the injections, thereby making them more precise and effective while reducing patient discomfort.

Doctor administering shockwave therapy

Shockwave Therapy

Shock wave technology has been indicated to treat a variety of conditions, including heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, tendinopathy, and chronic injuries. The administration of radial shock waves to injured tissue causes inflammation that stimulates the healing and scarring process. In general, three to six treatments are required.

Plantar fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is an irritation of the fibrous membrane (fascia) located under the foot. In runners, this membrane plays a supporting role in the arch of the foot to prevent it from sagging. Fasciitis occurs when this membrane is overused, causing very painful inflammation in the heel and the curvature of the foot. Sometimes, an evaluation and adjustment of running technique and equipment is sufficient to correct the problem. Rest, applying ice, anti-inflammatories, stretching and strengthening exercises, and wearing foot orthotics can also provide relief. In more advanced stages, when conservative treatment has failed, shock wave therapy may be considered.
